Mick Lyons signed as a professional footballer at Everton FC in 1970 after having served an apprenticeship at his dream club. He made his first team debut in the League's First Division in 1971. Utilized mostly as a defender, Mick would be pushed forward into an attacking role in the last 10 minutes of a game. He could play anywhere down the middle and was once Everton's top goalscorer. Mick notched up 390 appearances and 48 Goals at Goodison Park.
Mick's strength, versatility and sheer desire kept Mick at Everton FC for over 10 years until 1982 when he was sold to Sheffield Wednesday FC.
Mick Lyons appeared for Sheffield Wednesday 129 times, scoring 12 goals. He helped the Owls win promotion to the Football League First Division and was appointed as Youth Team Coach for the 1984-1985 season.
MICK'S MANAGERIAL CAREER
Mick's Managerial Career spanned over 25 years. He Managed Grimsby Town FC, the Country of Brunei, Nova Scotia Clippers, Canberra Cosmos, Stirling Lions, Cockburn City and had a spell as Assistant Manager with Doug Hesketh at Mandurah City FC where they reached tier 2 in a phenomenal promotion year.
